La Torre de la Horadada is a beach town on the Mediterranean Sea that is located in Alicante and belongs to the municipality of Pilar de la Horadada. However, it is very close to the Murcia Region, right next to the Mar Menor beaches.
The watchtower that it houses is what this area is best known for, apart from its beaches. The tower is located between Playa del Conde and Playa del Puerto, on a projecting area elevated above sea level. This tower dates from the 16th century, and served as a watchtower within the defensive system from the time of Philip II against pirates from the Mediterranean Sea.
